Indiana Fever’s Lexie Hull is recovering after a concerning collision with Seattle Storm’s Gabby Williams last week. Instead of dwelling on the injury, Hull has turned the situation into a lighter moment. She humorously wrote, “Two black eyes and one black set.”
One fan praised Hull, stating, “If anyone can pull off two black eyes it’s you!!!” Another fan offered encouragement: “Hope you’re doing ok. Love that you keep that smile going!!”.
Fans also reacted with a touch of humor, referencing NBA stars. “Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid would sit out for the season,” a fan commented.
The collision occurred on August 25th during the Fever’s 95-75 victory over the Storm (as captured in a Twitter post).
Fever teammate Caitlin Clark cheered on Hull, showcasing her two black eyes. “Go Lex,” Clark wrote, noting that she’s out for the remainder of the WNBA season. Golden State Valkyries Veronica Burton also commented, “Brings out your blue eyes.” Friend and teammate Sophie Cunningham offered a joke, “Way to use your noggin’ Lex.” Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton made a musical reference, stating, “Great song choice.”
Luckily, Hull avoided a concussion or facial fractures and was able to play against the Los Angeles Sparks game on August 29. The Fever won 76 – 75.
Following the injury, Hull shared her perspective: “Originally, I was like, I just need to get the swelling to go down in my forehead. So I put on a patch, slept with it. The next day, I woke up and I was like, ‘The bump is almost gone, but now I have two black eyes.’ So I’m just rolling with it.”
