Salisbury, MD – Marcus White, a standout football player for James M. Bennett High School, has been named the Delmarva Now Athlete of the Week for the period of September 8th to 14th. The announcement, made by Delmarva Now, recognizes White’s outstanding performance in Bennett’s inaugural victory of the season against Cambridge-South Dorchester.
White secured the top spot in the poll with 42% of the votes, surpassing a field of highly competitive nominees. His performance included a crucial touchdown reception, a successful rushing touchdown, and an interception, significantly contributing to Bennett’s triumph.
The nominations for the award were comprised of several impressive athletes across multiple Delmarva sports. Jamareon Stevens of Wicomico Football returned two kickoffs for touchdowns during their win against Stephen Decatur. Lynleigh Willing of Mardela Girls Soccer recorded a hat trick with three goals in their victory over Crisfield. Kevin Thomas of Wicomico Football achieved a remarkable six sacks in their win against Stephen Decatur. Chloe Holland of Pocomoke Field Hockey recorded a hat trick with three goals in their wins against St. Michaels and Delmar. Colby Seig of The Salisbury School Boys Soccer tallied a goal and an assist against Delmarva Christian, and scored two goals against Greenwood Mennonite.
