Florida State Seminoles Running Back Jaylin Lucas Plans Transfer

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Florida State University running back Jaylin Lucas has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, according to multiple sources, including On3. The move comes after a season-ending injury sustained during the Seminoles’ 2024 campaign.

Lucas, a redshirt junior, appeared in all 12 games of the 2025 season, logging 160 rushing yards on 27 attempts, along with 88 receiving yards on 11 catches. A notable highlight included a 64-yard reception against No. 8 Alabama during the season-opening game.

Prior to his injury, Lucas had seven touches in Florida State’s first two games, including a 10-yard rush against Georgia Tech and a 39-yard catch against Boston College.

Lucas’s career is marked by significant achievements at Indiana University prior to his arrival in Tallahassee. He amassed 2,052 all-purpose yards, including 1,163 kickoff return yards and three kickoff return touchdowns – a school record. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors in his sophomore season and was recognized as the 2022 Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year. Lucas also garnered first-team All-Big Ten accolades as a true freshman in 2022.

His impressive high school career at Edna Karr High School in Louisiana, where he led his team to a semifinal round of the 4A state playoffs, further demonstrates his potential. Lucas was a first-team all-state selection and averaged 125.5 all-purpose yards per game.

He is the brother of former FSU wide receiver Ja’Khi Douglas. The transfer portal window for January will now be open for Lucas.
