Los Angeles, CA – Alix Earle offered a raw and vulnerable account of her recent breakup with NFL star Braxton Berrios, speaking out for the first time on TikTok. The “Hot Mess with Alix Earle” host shared her thoughts following the couple’s split, admitting the distance and evolving desires played a significant role.
“Braxton and I are no longer together,” Earle tearfully stated in a video posted Saturday, December 13th. “We’ve been doing long distance since basically June, and we haven’t been seeing each other that often. It’s just been really difficult for me.”
The breakup, which Us Weekly exclusively reported on December 6th after two years together, stems from the pair’s dramatically different lifestyles. Earle explained she felt “really motivated” to establish a permanent presence in Los Angeles, spurred by her time on *Dancing With the Stars*. “That was a scary thing for me to realize because it meant us not being in the same place,” she admitted. “A part of me also really wants to be focusing on myself right now. I just feel like I can’t be what Braxton needs.”
Adding to the difficulty, the split was largely characterized by long-distance, a challenge the couple struggled to navigate. A source told Us Weekly that “distance was a huge factor” in their falling apart. “She really wants to spend more time in LA, while Braxton lives in Florida,” the source noted. “They realized they were growing apart as a couple.”
Earle emphasized that the breakup wasn’t about blame. “It’s not drama. It’s not because he did anything wrong or I did anything wrong. It just didn’t really feel like it was working out, in the moment.” She considered Berrios, 30, her “best friend” and expressed concern he deserved someone who could provide constant support.
The situation played out publicly after Berrios attempted to lighten the mood with an Instagram post on December 11th, questioning what Earle had missed due to his NFL schedule. Meanwhile, Earle herself hinted at her internal struggle, sharing a reflective TikTok post on Wednesday about approaching her 25th birthday and prioritizing quieter moments. “Is my frontal lobe developing [because] I’m about to turn 25 and usually I stress [about] having the biggest party?” Earle wrote. “All I want to do is workout, meditate, play card games and have good convos [with] the people closest to me. Either I’m maturing or just [really] going [through] it. Maybe both.”
Despite the public nature of the split, Earle clarified that Berrios’ absence during her *Dancing With the Stars* performances was not a factor.
