Influencer Indy Clinton has surprised the internet by announcing she’s altered her daughter’s official birthday, citing its proximity to Christmas. The decision has ignited a lively debate online.
Clinton explained her reasoning in a TikTok video, stating, “I was actually going to ask you guys for your opinion on something, but I’ve already made up my mind so I may as well just tell you because I don’t need your opinion. I just want to let you know what I’m doing as a mother. It made me think, ‘Why don’t more people do this?’ because I actually cannot genuinely think of any reasons why this would be a bad thing.”
Clinton, who is a mother of three (daughter Soul, born December 18, 2023, and sons Navy and Bambi born in 2020 and 2022 respectively), decided to change Soul’s birthday to December 12th. “She was actually just too close to Christmas for my liking, and I just thought, going forward, she’s never going to know we have officially changed it,” she said, adding, “If you see this, can you thank me? Because I’ve done this for attention reasons.”
The internet reaction has been mixed. One user, sharing a similar experience with their own December birthday (“My birthday is the 24th of Dec, I would wake up on my bday and every bit of xmas was hidden in my Mum and Dads room…”), expressed strong opposition to changing the date. “Do not do this Indy. She’s gonna have to fill out official forms when she’s older and not know her freaking bday.”
However, others were supportive of Clinton’s unconventional choice. “As someone born in December (the 15th), I think the 12th is still too close,” one user commented, “If you’re going to move it, move it all the way back to November.” Another echoed this sentiment, stating, “Feels! As 32 year old woman I changed my bday from 30th December to middle of the year… not crazy!”
The whole situation highlights the ongoing discussions around unconventional parenting choices and the public’s fascination with celebrity lives.
