ARLINGTON, TX – September 29, 2025 – Rangers first baseman, Miguel “El Toro” Ramirez, has announced he will undergo surgery on his left knee, effectively ending his 2025 season and raising questions about his long-term future with the team. The announcement was made earlier today by the Rangers’ medical staff following a diagnosis of a partial ligament tear.
Ramirez, a 28-year-old veteran acquired by the Rangers in a trade with the Yankees prior to the 2023 season, has struggled significantly this year, particularly after a promising start. He began the season with a .285 batting average and 12 home runs, fueling hopes of a productive season. However, a series of nagging injuries and subsequent setbacks culminated in a significant decline in his performance. Through September 28th, Ramirez’s batting average had plummeted to .228 with only 6 home runs and 23 RBIs.
“This has been a challenging season for me, both on and off the field,” Ramirez stated in a press conference this afternoon. “I’ve fought through a lot of discomfort, and it’s clear I need to address this issue to ensure I can return to playing at the level I’m capable of.”
