Green Bay, Wisconsin – Two pioneering football teams faced off on August 7th at Titletown football field in Ashwaubenon. One side, We Can Morocco, comprised of six girls in white jerseys with red highlights, was significantly outnumbered but determined to compete. The opposing team, Green Bay East High School, sporting dark red jerseys and black numbers, recently formed and tournament champions, represented a growing presence in the local landscape.
We Can Morocco’s origins are particularly noteworthy: the team represents girls from North Africa participating in American football. This pioneering effort is supported by the NFL and the Green Bay Packers, who have been instrumental in fostering the program. The NFL is actively seeking to expand interest in football globally, focusing initially on flag football, while the Packers have provided mentorship to founder Fouzia Madhouni for the past three years, continuing to supply equipment and support to other programs.
Madhouni, returning to Morocco after her initial trip to Green Bay, proposed bringing a contingent of her players with her. The Packers responded enthusiastically, and six of the Moroccan girls were able to travel. However, logistical challenges, including visa restrictions and costs, limited the team’s size.
Led by quarterback Margarita Montez, who consistently delivered on-target 30-yard touchdown passes, Green Bay East secured a 32-8 victory. While the score was a secondary consideration, the experience of playing and gaining visibility was paramount. Green Bay East is considered by coach Kominiko Sila to be potentially the first high school girls flag football team in Green Bay, and following their victory in the Packers’ tournament in June, requests for participation have been received from other local high schools.
The initiative is part of the NFL’s Global Sports Mentoring Program, supported by the U.S. State Department, the Center for Sport, Peace and Society at the University of Tennessee, and espnW. Launched in 2012, this program, encompassing the Empower Women through Sports and Sport for Community initiatives, aims to leverage mentoring and cultural exchange to advance gender equality and address disability rights. Former Packers player Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was dispatched to Morocco as part of this program.
We Can Morocco boasts more than 200 participants aged 18 to 30. “I want to impact people to impact people,” Madhouni stated, “Making an impact is like a train. It’s making people get on board with you.”
The Green Bay Packers will host a free high school girls flag football camp on August 8th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Titletown Football Field.

Big Cat asked Allen during the show whether he watched *Seinfeld* before purposely saying, “Are you a fan of Steinfeld?” to get a reaction from the quarterback. Allen said he was “a big fan” of the sitcom but avoided directly using his girlfriend’s name. Allen later told Big Cat that he “did a good job” trying to use Steinfeld in a sentence. “Respect. It was good,” Allen conceded.
Elsewhere in the interview, Allen confessed that when photographers try and capture a private date moment between him and Steinfeld he gets a “gross feeling.” He specifically took issue with photographers who hid on a boat during a recent getaway with Steinfeld and snapped them kissing. “[I was] like, ‘What is wrong with people,’” the athlete recalled thinking, noting there was “no privacy” during the trip.

Steinfeld was spotted supporting Allen at the Bills game in London on October 8. When the cameras at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium panned through the stands, the actress was caught on screen.

Despite sporting a flashy ring at the 2024 Golden Globes, Steinfeld shut down online speculation that Allen had popped the question. “I do got a cute little doe happening,” she told *E! News* of her ring, which was shaped like the head of a deer. “No particular reason other than I just thought it was real cute.”

Fall camp is upon us now, with less than a month left for the college football season to begin. Teams are now busy making final adjustments and defining roles clearly for each and every player. At Ohio State, though, with Julian Sayin widely expected to be the QB1, one would expect Lincoln Kienholz to take solace with the QB2 job. But that’s not how the QB is defining things for himself. For Kienholz, as long as the season doesn’t start, the QB1 spot is wide open, and his hard work to prove himself is on full throttle.
“It’s definitely good to have a competitive room because it brings the best out of each other. But off the field, we have each other’s backs no matter what,” said Sayin back in February, and with that, everyone expected that the QB would be the starter. The prospect of Julian Sayin made sense, too, since he was coming in as a five-star QB, recruited by Saban himself at Alabama, as opposed to Kienholz, who still had to refine his QB skills after being a multi-sport athlete in high school. But come spring, the “refinement” part was massive.
Lincoln Kienholz outperformed Sayin in the spring scrimmage and also delivered a 45-yard screamer to Carnell Tate under pressure. On the other hand, Sayin threw multiple interceptions and somewhat under-delivered. “There were times this spring that he felt Kienholz was a little bit ahead of Julian,” said Ryan Day as the spring practices ended and Kienholz’s prospects became even more optimistic. Now, with fall camp going on, Kienholz has full faith that he can seal that QB1 spot and has improved greatly as a QB.
“I think it just shows that I put in some work in the offseason. I mean, in the weight room, also on the field. Just go out there and be my best, and I mean just hopefully prove to my teammates that my leadership’s there as well,”” said Kienholz. The question now is, who will ultimately win that QB1 battle?
Ryan Day has repeatedly prioritized “command of the offense” and leadership, which will enable a QB to show consistency in route plays and notch up those third-down and red zone conversions. In that sense, Lincoln Kienholz has emerged and progressed a lot in every aspect and is homegrown, being in his third year at OSU. His spring game performance of 158 yards and 12/18 passes backed his case up. But Sayin’s arm talent is next level, along with OSU’s history of going with high-profile players like Jeremiah Smith or Emeka Egbuna, and that makes the choice much tougher.
