  • Phillies & Rob Thomson Reminded Of Bitter Past As NLDS Hopes Hits Snag After $3M Star’s Ultimatum to Clubhouse

Phillies & Rob Thomson Reminded Of Bitter Past As NLDS Hopes Hits Snag After $3M Star’s Ultimatum to Clubhouse

The mood at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday night transformed in a matter of innings. What began as a confident Game 1 for the Phillies against the Dodgers quickly became a frustrating 5-3 loss. This loss has now left the Phillies to stare at some uncomfortable history. The Phillies have always thrived on early momentum in October, and in that period, dropping the opener is not a minor setback; it is a vital red flag, and behind the loss, the Phillies $3 million star did not stop to say what needs to happen after that.

The Phillies have a postseason history, and it makes the situation more stark. The team has won 15 postseason series in its history, and they have won Game 1 in all of them. However, their luck never supported them after dropping the first game. In 2022, the Phillies’ iconic “Dancing on My Own” run started with a road Game 1 victory against the Cardinals, the Braves, and the Padres, and they also stunned the Astros in Game 1 in the World Series before eventually fading away. If we talk with numbers, then the challenge is clear: since the current Division series started, the winner of Game 1 goes on to advance 74 percent of the time.

So, Brandon Marsh’s postgame message was perfect to provide extra weight. “It’s just important that we flush this,” Marsh said. “And come back Monday with some controlled, correct aggression. You know, anger,” he added. His tone struck a chord because this is not unfamiliar territory for the Phillies. Last October, the Phillies lost Game 1 to the Mets before bowing out in four games. However, this season’s challenge is more vital: the Dodgers are far more powerful than the 2024 Mets.

MLB, Baseball Herren, USA Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins Sep 6, 2025 Miami, Florida, USA Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson, 49, greets players after a victory against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park. The ripple effect of the current defeat of the Dodgers was quick. The projection of FanGraphs highlighted that the Phillies had a 42.1 percent chance of winning before Game 1. However, after Cristopher Sánchez stumbled in the sixth inning and Matt Strahm surrendered a three-run homer in the seventh, the chance of winning dropped to 25.6 percent. Beyond the numbers, the eye test highlighted its own story. Dave Roberts’ team and their bullpen, fortified by Tyler Glasnow, shut the door for the Phillies in a dominant way, recording eight of the final nine outs. However, the Phillies and their top four hitters went just 1-for-13, and Bryce Harper’s single was their only highlight.

If we analyze further, then we can see that the urgency is sharper. Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are lined up for the Dodgers, and they will hit the field in Game 2 and Game 3. The 2 stars combined for 18 strikeouts and just four earned runs across 13⅔ innings in the wild-card series. That is a mountain, and the Phillies need to climb to win, and Rob Thomson’s team will need to climb that at a time when their elite star, Harrison Bader, is fighting with an injury.

If Bader is unable to go, the Phillies’ Nick Castellanos could join the lineup, with Marsh handling the center position and Weston Wilson filling in the left. For Rob Thomson to keep his season alone, Marsh’s “flush it and fight” warning can not just be a statement; it has to be the team’s identity.

Before the Phillies can recollect for Game 2, the NLDS limelight has surprisingly shifted towards Bryce Harper, hot for his bat, but for his words. As Rock Thomson’s team looks for answers on the ground, Harper’s resurfaced comments about Los Angeles have fired a very different kind of debate among fans.

The timing of this resurfaced clip could not be more interesting. Instead of sparking tension, Harper’s hat-tip has softened some of the tension around the matchup, with many supporters of the Dodgers accepting they have grown to like him more due to his candor. It is rare to watch a postseason showdown where a visiting player gets praise before even stepping into the batter’s box. While the Phillies encounter the frustrating task of overturning Game 1 history, Harper’s statement has already set an abrupt, respectful tone off the field, one that might add an interesting emotional layer to the series as it unfolds.

The Rock Thomson’s clubhouse is now encountering a defining moment in their postseason voyage. Overcoming the past, silencing doubt, and taking action with urgency will define their NLDS fate. Brandon Marsh’s burning message sets the mood, while Bryce Harper’s sudden applause adds interest. Game 2 is not just going to be another matchup, only it is their last chance to rephrase the script. So stay tuned to get more information on the topic.

  • Did You Notice That ‘Mindhunter’ Reference in the ‘Monster’ Season 3 Finale?

Did You Notice That ‘Mindhunter’ Reference in the ‘Monster’ Season 3 Finale?

True crime fans tuning into *Monster: The Ed Gein Story* were in for a fun surprise when the show found a way to connect back to beloved series *Mindhunter*.

During the final episode, which premiered on Friday, October 3, *Monster* introduced their version of Ted Bundy (*John T. O’Brien*) as he was being hunted down by FBI agents John Douglas (*Sean Carrigan*) and Robert Ressler (*Caleb Ruminer*). Their search took them to Jerry Brudos (*Happy Anderson*) a.k.a the Shoe Fetish Slayer, who wasn’t able to give them the information they were looking for but directed them to Ed Gein (*Charlie Hunnam*).

“We wanted to underline the last thing tonally that through *Silence of the Lambs*, he really influenced *Mindhunter* as well,” showrunner Ian Brennan told Tudum on Friday. “That would be a fun way to put a cap on it, to use this other filmic vocabulary and then talk about the ways that he was part of those early days of FBI profiling.”

What TV Shows, Movies Were Inspired by Ed Gein’s Crimes Before ‘Monster’?

This led to a sit-down between Gein and three agents — including Ann Burgess (*Megan Ketch*) — who traveled the country interviewing prolific serial killers as research to understand their state of mind. The scene might have felt familiar for Netflix viewers who tuned into the short-lived series *Mindhunter*.

    Netflix

Based on the 1995 book *Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit*, *Mindhunter* followed the founding of the Behavioral Science Unit in the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the late ’70s, which was the beginning of criminal profiling. (In addition to *Monster* featuring the parallel to a real team of agents, they also brought back Anderson, 48, as Brudos after he originated the role in *Mindhunter*.)

*Mindhunter*, which starred *Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany* and *Anna Torv*, ran for two seasons but was ultimately put on indefinite hold due to executive producer *David Fincher* looking to pursue other projects. After hinting at plans to revisit the series in the future, Fincher confirmed in 2023 that the show was officially over.

More recently, McCallany, 62, teased a possible third season on Netflix.

Guide to Every Criminal in Ryan Murphy’s ‘Monster’: Menendez Bros, Ed Gein

“I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it’s just a chance,” he told CBR in June. “I know there are writers that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.”

McCallany continued: “I recently wrote a script that he was kind enough to give me notes on. I was in script revisions with David for two and a half years.. but [he] was very meticulous, which is why I think he’s the best director in Hollywood. He gave me a little bit of hope when I had that meeting with him, but the sun, the moon and the stars would all have to align.”

Groff, for his part, also showed support for a continuation in the past.

“To me, *Mindhunter* is Fincher. The whole experience for me was the honor and privilege of getting to work with him,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021. “This was the main draw for me. The minute he says he wants to do another one, I’ll be there in a second. But I trust his vision and his instincts, and so I leave it always in his hands, as ever.”

*Monster* and *Mindhunter* are both currently streaming on Netflix.

  • George Russell Claims Victory in Singapore as McLaren Secures Constructors’ Championship

George Russell Claims Victory in Singapore as McLaren Secures Constructors’ Championship

SINGAPORE – George Russell secured a dominant victory at the Singapore Grand Prix today, marking his third win of the 2025 Formula 1 season and solidifying McLaren’s remarkable ascent to clinch the Constructors’ Championship. The British driver controlled the race from the outset, expertly managing his tires and demonstrating a superior pace compared to the rest of the field.

Russell started from pole position, benefiting from a perfectly executed qualifying session. His initial getaway was flawless, immediately establishing a gap to Sergio Pérez in second. While Pérez mounted a valiant challenge, he was unable to close the distance, hampered by tire degradation and strategic choices.

The race was largely controlled by Russell, who consistently set the fastest lap and maintained a comfortable buffer. The McLaren team executed a brilliant strategy, opting for a one-stop approach that proved to be the optimal choice given the demanding track conditions and the degradation of the track surface.

Behind Russell, the race was a tactical battle for second place. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly finished in a strong second, benefiting from a late-race safety car period caused by a mechanical issue affecting Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. The safety car neutralized the final fifteen laps, effectively negating the potential for a late challenge and securing Gasly’s position.

Ferrari, despite Sainz’s early retirement, achieved a respectable third place with Charles Leclerc, demonstrating the team’s continued competitiveness. Red Bull Racing, arguably the dominant force of the season, had a difficult afternoon, with Max Verstappen struggling with mechanical problems and finishing sixth.

The victory for McLaren represents a historic moment for the Woking-based team. Their unprecedented Constructors’ Championship win, achieved without a single driver victory, underscores a remarkable transformation in the team’s performance and engineering capabilities. The McLaren team, under the leadership of technical director Dan Stowell, has consistently demonstrated innovation and strategic acumen, propelling them to the top of the standings.

“It’s incredible,” stated Russell after the race. “The team worked incredibly hard, and to bring home the Constructors’ Championship is a dream come true.”

The Singapore Grand Prix concludes a thrilling season, and McLaren’s triumph confirms their status as the standout team of 2025. The focus now shifts to the final round, where the championship battle will undoubtedly be intense.

El analista Joseph Hoyt, en su cuenta de X, resaltó: “Worth noting: second-straight week the #Cowboys elected to NOT place RG Tyler Booker and WR CeeDee Lamb on injured reserve. A good sign for their potential to play within the next two weeks.”

  • Monster: Ed Gein Story Features Tracker Alum After Multiple Cast Exits

Monster: Ed Gein Story Features Tracker Alum After Multiple Cast Exits

Fans of Tracker are still processing the show’s recent cast shakeups, but one former star will be appearing in a new series. Charlie Hunnam, who played Ed Gein in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, is dating Suzanna Son’s character, Adeline Watkins, despite her mother Robin Weigert’s disapproval.

During season 3 of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series, which premiered on Friday, October 3, Ed Gein dates Adeline Watkins despite his mother Enid Watkins disapproving of their relationship. Later in the show, Enid recalls throwing herself down the stairs multiple times while pregnant because she didn’t want to give birth to Adeline.

CBS viewers might have recognized Weigert for her role as Teddi. The network found success with Tracker immediately after it premiered in February 2024 to record-breaking ratings. Viewers have since tuned in week after week to see fictional survivalist Colter (Justin Hartley) travel the country to help solve various missing persons cases.

As Colter has gotten help, the ensemble cast has grown with characters such as handlers Teddi (Weigert) and Velma (Abby McEnany), hacker Bobby (Eric Graise) and attorney Reenie (Fiona Rene).

Which ‘Tracker’ Stars Have Left Justin Hartley’s CBS Show So Far?

After joining Tracker in season 1, Weigert’s character was written off in the premiere with her wife, Velma, admitting that they needed some distance. Velma then started working with Reenie and Teddi wasn’t discussed again in season 2.

“[Teddi] is going to be there for a while. She is helping her mom get sorted. I was getting in the way you might say and it really wasn’t good,” Velma said at the beginning of season 2. “So I came back. Don’t you worry because I am keeping busy.”

The concerns about the show’s main characters kept coming when Graise was noticeably absent from six episodes. His cousin Randy (Chris Lee) was brought in to help Colter before Bobby returned, which caused backlash from viewers who grew used to seeing Graise on their screen.

Before season 3, news broke that Graise and McEnany wouldn’t be coming back — at least for now.

Why Did ‘Tracker’ Lose 3 Cast Members Before Season 3? Shakeups Explained

“I do think it’s evolving. If I can’t evolve those characters — Randy or Reenie or Bobby — they’re not just people that just pick up the phone and go, ‘OK, here is the answer.’ That’s when the show is phoning it in,” executive producer Elwood Reid exclusively told Us Weekly in May. “The challenge is when you got to learn about them, which I thought was interesting. That’s the challenge of the show is not having it fall into a formula.”

Reid noted that they didn’t want Tracker to “fall into complacency.”

“The only rule I really have of the show is each week Colter is going to come to a new place and there’s going to be a new case. How he gets those answers and what he uses on the team, that’s all something that’s up for grabs,” Reid teased. “Meeting these [local] weird characters is something we’re going to try to do more of as the season goes on. Just Colter coming in and interacting with other characters. That’s fun to see Justin flex those muscles with really good guest cast members.”

Monster: Ed Gein Story is currently streaming on Netflix. Tracker returns to CBS on Sunday, October 19, at 8 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Paramount+.

  • Will Brock Bowers Play vs Colts? All About Raiders TE’s Injury Status for Week 5

Will Brock Bowers Play vs Colts? All About Raiders TE’s Injury Status for Week 5

The Las Vegas Raiders could head into Sin City’s Week 5 matchup shorthanded at a critical spot. Raider Nation already knows Michael Mayer is out with a concussion. That hit the tight end room hard. Now Brock Bowers has joined him on the injury list. And the updates on Bowers haven’t been encouraging.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the starting tight end’s status “has been trending down” with a knee issue. And to make matters tougher, Fox Sports Radio’s injury expert David J. Chao added, “Clearly not 100% from PCL sprain and still wearing knee brace.” For the Raiders, that doesn’t sound like a player ready to take on a heavy load.

Head coach Pete Carroll expressed optimism earlier in the week that the 21-year-old TE would play despite his knee injury and limited practice. However, after missing practice on Thursday and Friday and being seen wearing a knee brace, recent reports indicate Bowers is now trending toward not playing in Week 5 against the Colts. If that happens, Las Vegas goes into Sunday without its top two tight ends.

That leaves the Silver and Black leaning on Ian Thomas and Carter Runyon. The former, who came over after seven seasons in Carolina, is steady but not flashy. He has been more of a blocker than a pass catcher in his career. Still, he has seen the field in all four games this season.

Last week, he even started in Mayer’s absence, showing he can step in when needed.

And Runyon can be the wild card. The undrafted rookie from Towson just got signed to the 53-man roster after being elevated last week. He only played on special teams in his debut, but now he might slide into the TE2 role if Bowers sits.

To cover more ground, the Raiders also called up Albert Okwuegbunam as a game-day elevation. He hasn’t suited up since 2023, but Sunday could change that. So the question is simple, can the Raiders adjust in time, or will the Colts take full advantage?

How Raiders might play with Brock Bowers and Mayer out?

The Silver and Black are heading into Sin City with a tricky matchup. The Colts’ linebackers and secondary love to ballhawk. That’s a headache for Geno Smith, who already has a tendency to throw interceptions.

Therefore, it makes sense for Las Vegas to lean on Ashton Jeanty and the running game. Jeanty delivered big in Week 4 against Chicago with three total touchdowns, running for 138 yards on 21 carries. Clearly, the Raiders will need to pound the rock more on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the defense could be just as crucial. Even though Las Vegas allowed only 271 total yards last week, turnovers killed them in the 25-24 loss. The Colts bring a high-octane offense led by Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Tyler Warren, and Michael Pittman Jr. The Raiders will need to stay sharp, remembering what Washington did in Week 3.

Unfortunately, the Commanders ran the ball and threw for roughly 200 yards each, dominating possession. So, the Raiders will need to be smarter with the ball. Leaning on Geno Smith carries turnover risk, but it also bumps up the value for Tre Tucker and Jakobi Meyers if he can stay efficient. It’s a balancing act the Silver and Black must master.

In the end, Sunday’s matchup will test Las Vegas on multiple fronts. Running the ball effectively, protecting Geno, and keeping the defense disciplined will decide whether Raider Nation leaves Allegiant Stadium cheering or worrying about Week 5.

  • 3 TV Shows About Dysfunctional Families You Have to Watch Right Now

3 TV Shows About Dysfunctional Families You Have to Watch Right Now

Dysfunctional family members vying for power is a pretty popular topic for television series.

7 New Shows to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and More (October 3-5)

    ‘Succession’ (2018-2023)

    ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ (2019-2025)

3 New on Netflix TV Shows You Need to Watch in September 2025

Watch *The Righteous Gemstones* ahora en HBO Max.
